Toothed belt is widely used to replace the drive chain on high-speed engines, but chain drive is still used on some high-power engines. The toothed belt has the characteristics of low working noise, reliable operation and low cost. For the double overhead camshaft, generally, the exhaust camshaft is driven by the crankshaft through the timing toothed belt or chain, the intake camshaft is driven by the exhaust camshaft through the metal chain, or both the intake camshaft and the exhaust camshaft are driven by the crankshaft through the toothed belt or chain.
